The CSCS Labourer card (Green Card) is intended for those working only as a labourer. To apply for this card there is a requirement for applicants to achieve a formal knowledge-based qualification, the Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment meets this requirement. Achievement of this award will demonstrate the applicant’s understanding of key issues affecting safe working practices on UK construction sites. The CITB Green Card can not be applied for without the Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment.

Yes, all our courses hold accreditations. The awarding body is NOCN.

The Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment course has various packages and is delivered classroom based. The basic course is a one-day course and the CITB test will be booked at registration. The CITB Touchscreen test is completed at a local Pearsons Test Centre and dates are normally available within 7 days but there may also be next day slots available.

Learning criteria:

  • Principles of risk assessment for maintaining and improving health and safety at work.
  • The importance of safe manual handling in the workplace.
  • The importance of working safely at height in the workplace.
  • Risks to health within a construction environment.
  • The importance of working around plant and equipment safely.

There is a multiple-choice test at the end of the day.

Test Specification The overall pass mark is set at 80% the duration of the test is 60 minutes.

The Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment Test can only be taken in English. The CITB H&S can have a voiceover. There is a list of languages available, for further information email contact@qualifiedskills.academy

Payment in full is required 3 days before the scheduled course date and is payable by BACS.

You must be over 16 and provide one form of Primary ID from the list below, showing your full name, a recognisable photograph and signature.

Photocard Driving Licence (UK or European)

Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) or Biometric Residence Card (BRC)

If you do not have the required form of Primary ID, you may present two forms of Secondary ID. This must include one from List A and one from List B.

Young Scot Card showing the PASS hologram

UK Paper Driving Licence (issued before 31 March 2000)

All documents presented as identification must be originals (no photocopies or digital copies), be in date (valid / not expired) and be in your name (which must match the name on the test booking).  If you have any queries about ID you may phone: 07466034604

If You do not bring suitable ID You will not be allowed to take the CITB Test.

If you fail the internal Level Health and Safety in a Construction Environment Test you can re-sit the following day. I you fail the CITB Test another test, you can re-sit 3 days after your initial test. A link to revision material will be sent when you register for the package.
