The Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment is designed for individuals who are new to the construction industry or looking to gain their CSCS Green Labourer Card to access UK construction sites as a non-skilled worker.

This accredited qualification provides the essential knowledge and understanding required to work safely on site covering risk assessments, manual handling, working at heights, health hazards, and operating around plant and machinery.

Upon successful completion, learners become eligible to take the mandatory CSCS knowledge test, enabling them to obtain their Green Card and begin their construction career with confidence.

• Learners must achieve all 3 credits to successfully complete the qualification.

Assessment Methods

This qualification can be completed through one of two assessment options (chosen by the centre upon registration):

• Online multiple-choice assessment
• NOCN-devised assessment portfolio
  Both are externally set and quality-assured by NOCN.

Entry Requirements

• No formal qualifications required.
• Available to learners aged 16 years or over.
• The qualification must be delivered in English.

Progression Routes

After achieving this qualification, learners can:

• Gain employment in the construction sector as a non-skilled worker.
• Progress to a Level 2 qualification in a specific trade or job role.
• Advance towards a construction apprenticeship.
